The roar of machinery and splashing welding sparks fill the production workshop of Hunan C-KINGDOM Technology Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as C-KINGDOM CABLE), brimming with vigorous vitality. High-speed production lines run nonstop, with batches of products shipped to all corners of the globe. Mao Binghua, the company’s Chairperson, walks through the workshop, bending down to inspect equipment and offering gentle instructions from time to time. “At present, our products are exported to more than 40 countries and regions,” Mao Binghua remarked.

Mao Binghua’s former shoulder-length hair is neatly tied up, lending her an even more capable and composed aura. Previously, she led her team to bravely explore African markets, enabling Changsha-made cables to go global and link the world. Today, she has been honored with the Outstanding Private Entrepreneur of Hunan Province under the Hunan Contribution Award.
Taking Over the Family Business: Fearlessly Tackling Tough Challenges
Returning home to take over the family business and root herself in local real industry embodies Mao Binghua’s deep affection for her hometown, shared by many of her generation. Twenty years ago, she gave up her thriving overseas business in Canada and came back to China to take over the reins from her father, becoming the new leader of C-KINGDOM CABLE.
“I pursued my studies abroad so that I could return to serve my motherland,” Mao Binghua stated frankly. This unwavering resolve stems from her family’s original aspiration to develop the real economy. Back in the 1990s, her father Mao Jiongming acquired the nearly bankrupt state-owned Changsha Malanshan Wire and Cable Factory and renamed it C-KINGDOM Cable Factory. Through Mao Jiongming’s relentless efforts, the factory grew from a restructured small plant into an innovative modern manufacturing enterprise integrating R&D, production and sales, ranking among China’s Top 500 Private Enterprises and Top 500 Manufacturers. Now, this heavy responsibility has passed to Mao Binghua. “As the eldest daughter, I must shoulder this burden,” she said.
Nevertheless, women are rarely seen in the heavy-duty cable manufacturing sector, yet Mao Binghua stepped forward to tackle formidable challenges head-on. Witnessing the gap in intelligent manufacturing between China and foreign countries, she recognized that the digital and intelligent transformation of the enterprise brooked no delay. “This transformation process will inevitably bring growing pains, but we must forge ahead.” Against many dissenting voices, she introduced advanced management concepts and technologies, upgraded production equipment, recruited top talents, and built a national green factory. Step by step, she delivered simultaneous breakthroughs in production efficiency and product quality. Under her leadership, the company adopted the development strategy of “Technology-driven Innovation, Green Development”. It has successively established research platforms including an Academician & Expert Workstation and Hunan Special Cable Engineering Technology Research Center, building a full industrial chain covering renewable resources, intensive deep processing, high-tech products and circular economy to realize sustainable green development. In 2021, the enterprise was certified as a national-level Specialized, Refined, Unique and Innovative “Little Giant” enterprise, marking a new milestone of high-quality development for C-KINGDOM CABLE.
Making “Changsha Manufacturing” a Premium Global Brand
Braving market tides to expand overseas and pursue stronger growth defines Mao Binghua’s leadership of the enterprise. “Only by going global can we embrace a promising new future.” Drawing on her experience of studying and starting businesses overseas, she firmly committed to international expansion, striving to boost the global presence of Changsha manufacturing.
Focusing on copper and cable manufacturing, C-KINGDOM CABLE sees Africa as a vast blue-ocean market. Mao Binghua quickly seized the market opportunities and led her team to visit Africa multiple times. One trip last year remains fresh in her memory: “Our first stop was the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We drove for five days straight and spent two nights sleeping in the vehicle.” Though local living conditions were harsh, she spotted abundant mineral resources as well as massive demand for power and infrastructure construction. Identifying this huge opportunity, she made a bold strategic decision: set up local subsidiaries and manufacturing plants in Africa to achieve localized production and operation. This determination and diligence allowed C-KINGDOM CABLE to ride the wave of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. As the permanent host city of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, Changsha attracts countless African merchants every year. Today, C-KINGDOM CABLE’s products are sold across more than 40 countries and regions including Morocco and Tanzania, making “Changsha Manufacturing” a trusted premium brand in African markets.
“We export not only our products, but also the image of Chinese enterprises.” For this reason, Mao Binghua always regards product quality as the company’s lifeline. Beyond establishing an academician workstation, C-KINGDOM CABLE keeps increasing investment in scientific research and R&D spending. In 2025, the company took the lead in founding the Innovation Consortium for Power Energy & Data Transmission Technology Research and Industrialization, focusing on R&D of cutting-edge technologies such as optical-electric composite cables. At present, the enterprise holds nearly a hundred patents and has led or participated in drafting multiple national and industrial standards. “Many of our overseas clients reach out to us proactively to place orders,” Mao Binghua said with a smile.
Building a Solid Bridge Connecting the Public and the Government
“It is my duty to bring voices from the workshop to the conference hall.” As a deputy to the Changsha Municipal People’s Congress, Mao Binghua shoulders another vital mission. Her footsteps stretch far to overseas markets while staying firmly grounded on the frontlines of production. She conducts in-depth visits at workshops and grassroots sites, listens carefully to workers’ demands, sorts out common difficulties facing enterprises, and advocates sound policies for the healthy growth of private businesses.
She listens to both corporate demands and people’s livelihood concerns. Her proposal Suggestions on Issuing Policies to Boost High-Quality Development of Hunan’s Comprehensive Utilization Industry of Non-Ferrous Metal Resources was adopted by government authorities, facilitating the release of Hunan Provincial Policy Measures to Support the Extension and Upgrade of the Comprehensive Circular Utilization Industry of Non-Ferrous Metal Resources, making positive contributions to the sound development of the sector. Committed to improving people’s lives, she put forward practical proposals addressing public concerns including waste classification, urban road sanitation and social insurance optimization, many of which have been adopted and delivered tangible results. “Deputies to the People’s Congress should act as a solid bridge linking the public and the government,” Mao Binghua commented. She feels sincere gratification and fulfillment when she can truly resolve practical problems for local residents.
“Gender should never be a limiting label; women hold up half the sky.” Her name Binghua carries a profound meaning: ice for unyielding strength, flower for gentle grace. Her father hoped she would possess both the toughness of ice and the soft beauty of flowers. “Balancing firmness and gentleness, inner cultivation and external poise, is a lifelong pursuit for me,” Mao Binghua said.
