Recently, the 2026 "C-KINGDOM Cup" Extrusion Operator Vocational Skills Competition, co-hosted by the Trade Union of C-KINGDOM CABLE and the Cable Division, was held in the cable workshop and intelligent manufacturing workshop. Nearly 20 frontline extrusion operators from both workshops competed on the same stage, showcasing the demeanor of industrial workers in the new era with consummate craftsmanship.
Aligned strictly with the evaluation criteria of Hunan Provincial Vocational Skills Competition for Wire & Cable Manufacturers, the contest consisted of two segments: theoretical knowledge assessment and practical operation examination. The closed-book theoretical test took place in the training room on the 3rd floor of the office building. It covered professional knowledge including extruder structure and working principles, properties of PVC sheath compounds, process parameter setting, safe operation specifications and quality control, comprehensively examining contestants’ theoretical proficiency.
The day following the written test, contestants engaged in intense practical challenges on workshop extruders. Each participant was required to independently complete the full extrusion workflow: machine startup, continuous production and shutdown, manufacturing no less than 20 meters of qualified sheathed cable within a maximum time limit of 50 minutes. Scoring was conducted across four dimensions: operation duration, standardized operation, defective product evaluation and finished cable quality, with product quality accounting for a high weight of 40 points. Key inspection indicators included minimum sheath wall thickness, average wall thickness, concentricity, surface appearance and cross-section quality.
On site, all contestants stayed fully focused and composed amid the competition. They handled every procedure meticulously, from pre-production preparation, die assembly and installation, temperature adjustment and purging, to output length control, post-run cleaning and site tidying. Timers recorded every second precisely, the judging panel scored strictly against official evaluation standards, and inspectors from the Quality Department carried out professional product testing. The whole event proceeded in an orderly yet intense atmosphere, fully embodying the industrial workers’ spirit of learning from each other, catching up with peers and pursuing first-class performance.
After fierce competition, Chen Taiyou claimed the first prize; Liu Jiancun and Yuan Sheng won the second prize; Liu Shishan, Kuang Xiaocong and Tian Maojun received the third prize.
This competition effectively upgraded the professional competency of C-KINGDOM CABLE’s extrusion operator team, boosted staff enthusiasm for technical learning and professional research, and fostered a positive working atmosphere of "comparing, learning, catching up and surpassing". The Group Trade Union will continue to leverage the strengths of trade union organizations to regularly hold multi-trade skills contests, improve the full-chain mechanism covering the training, employment, evaluation and incentive of skilled talents, build more growth platforms for frontline industrial workers, and provide solid talent support for the high-quality development of the enterprise.
