Project Overview
The Chirchik River basin is one of Uzbekistan’s key hydropower bases.On August 29-30, 2023, the renovation of three hydropower stations in Uzbekistan—Tashkent Station 1, Chirchik Station 10, and Samarkand Station 2B—was completed. Construction officially began in January 2021. China National Technical Import and Export Corporation (CNTC) was the general contractor, with Huazi Technology participating in the project. Our company provided the main wires and cables. Uzbekistan is a major energy consumer, primarily relying on coal and gas for power generation, and power shortages are common. Chirchik Station 10, commissioned in the 1930s, originally consisted of a 24MW and 10.7MW generator set. This renovation utilized the original plant structure and flow passages to expand the capacity of the 24MW unit to 29MW. The 10.7MW unit, along with all electrical equipment in the plant and booster station, was upgraded with automation.
